DIY | Glitter Paperweight

02 January 2014

I have an obsession with glitters--backtrack a bit and you'll see the blog is chock-full of posts involving glitter like this other DIY project (Glitter Desk Decor) and this glitter nail art. I think all work desks should have a bit of accent that will not only get your creative juices flowing, but will also be functional: thus, the glitter paperweight.
Things you will need:
- glitter of your choice (I'm partial to gold)
- Glue
- any material that could be used as paper weight--i used a piece of marble that my brother got for me during a trip to the beach
- brush
STEP 1: Put glue on the surface of your paper weight that you'd like to accent with glitter. Do this as quickly as you can.
STEP 2: Sprinkle the paper weight with glitter. Use your brush to even out the glitters to avoid glitter bumps.

SET YOUR GLITTER PAPER WEIGHT FOR A WHILE. LET IT DRY A BIT.

STEP 3: Once the glitter and glue have dried up, make a mixture of glue with water. The consistency should be a bit runny. Then using your brush, cover your paper weight with it. You might see goopy white stuff on the paper weight but that will dry up nicely. This process is necessary to keep glitters intact and to give your paper weight a nice sheen.

Then set it aside for it to dry.

Voila.

Like this DIY Project? :) I'd like to hear your thoughts on it!
