Beauty Buffet Masks Review

15 July 2014

Prior to trying out these Beauty Buffet Masks I never liked putting a mask on. I found it too tedious to do and frankly, I failed to see the desired results. Downtime at an office consisting of mostly girls will guarantee conversations on beauty and skincare tips. A few weeks ago, one of the topics covered was facial masks. One of my friends said that Korean women who have immaculate skin swear by using a mask everyday. That made me reconsider my thoughts on facial masks. Now I don't think I can manage to use a mask every night--especially on nights when I get home late and I'm itching to take a shower and just climb into bed already. So I figured doing this twice or thrice a week would suffice. Another friend from the office mentioned how she loves face masks from Taiwan and luckily, they have those in Watsons: Beauty Buffet.

Beauty Buffet Masks come in a number of variants but I chose to try just two based on the results I want: Black Pearl Whitening Facial Mask (Radiant & Resilient) and CO Q10 & Yogurt Facial Mask (Firm and Smooth).

Black Pearl Whitening Facial Mask
Radiant and Resilient

This is my favorite of the two because I was pleasantly surprised with the results.

Ingredients of note:

+ Hyrdolysed Black Pearl - revitalizes and rejuvenates skin to restore resilience and radiance

+ Vitamin C and Licorice Root Extract - fights Melanin formation and provides skin lightening effects

+ Chamomile - soothes dry skin

+ Carrageenan Extract, Algae Extract, Hyaluronic Acid and Amino Acid - provides deep hydration and helps lock in moisture for hydro-lipid balance

+ Cucumber and Papaya Extract - refreshes, nourishes, and smoothens skin

Though I really did not like the scent of the mask, I love that it really minimized the appearance of my pores and IT REALLY DID BRIGHTEN UP MY FACE and lightened up some pimple marks! It left my face really moisturized, too. No breakouts with this mask!

CO Q10 & Yogurt Facial Mask
Firm and Smooth

Ingredients of note:

+ CO Q10 - firms skin and reduces fine lines

+ Yogurt - dissolves dead skin and minimizes pores

+ Glycine - retains skin moisture and rejuvenates skin to make it appear more elastic and smooth

+ Algae, Aloe Vera and Cucumber Extract - moisturizes and nourishes skin

I was underwhelmed with this product. It left my face feeling taut-- similar to the effect of most clay masks. Overcleansing your skin which makes it feels stretched tight will send your oil glands into overdrive which could potentially lead to breakouts. It did somehow minimize the appearance of pores, until the taut feeling wore off. I did not get breakouts with this product, but I don't think I'll be purchasing it again.

Have you tried any of the Beauty Buffet Masks? I'd like to try out the other variants but keeping the Black Pearl mask as a staple! If you do get to try Beauty Buffet Masks I suggest that after you remove the mask, massage the remaining essence onto your face before washing it off with a gentle cleanser.

Beauty Buffet Masks are available at Watsons and retail at P44.00.
